A reality TV star from Upstate New York is headed to another show.
“The Circle” winner Joey Sasso will appear on the new Netflix dating show “Perfect Match,” the streaming service announced Tuesday. The “Bachelor in Paradise”-like series will follow former singles from other Netflix shows, including “Too Hot to Handle,” “Love is Blind,” “Sexy Beasts” and “The Mole,” as they look for love — competitively — in a tropical paradise.
“As they compete to form relationships, the most compatible couples will play matchmaker, breaking up other couples and sending them on dates with brand-new singles they’ll invite to the villa,” the show’s description says. “Will they create better matches, or will they create chaos? In this over-the-top journey of strategy and dating hosted by Nick Lachey, only one couple will be crowned the Perfect Match.”
Sasso, who grew up in Rochester, is best known for winning the $100,000 grand prize on the first season of “The Circle” in 2020. The social media-focused series, now in its fifth season in the U.S., features contestants isolated in an apartment with online interactions as their only means of communication, leading some players to catfish their opponents.
Sasso also appeared on “Girls5eva” and “General Hospital,” plus is co-writing and starring in the upcoming Rochester-based film “Young Lion of the West.” He currently lives in Los Angeles.
According to Variety, “Perfect Match” will have 12 hour-long episodes with the first four episodes premiering on Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day. The next four episodes will be released Feb. 21 and the final four four will begin streaming Feb. 28.
