In one of the most famous relationships that’s ever been seen in Hollywood history, in 1995, Pamela and Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy married on a beach in Cancún after just four days together.
Their passionate affair began after they first crossed paths at a party in Los Angeles, before he enthusiastically followed her to Mexico with some friends.
However, in the former Playboy cover star’s new Netflix documentary about her life – Pamela, a love story – she opened up about the fact that she was still romantically linked with Kelly when she and Tommy exchanged their vows.
‘I met Kelly Slater on the set of Baywatch. He was my big love actually. He was such a sweetheart to me, and so good to me,’ the 55-year-old recalled.
‘I dated Kelly all the time. I mean, Kelly and I were together between lots of boyfriends and lots of girlfriends for him too, but it wasn’t just me.’
The Barb Wire star dubbed professional surfer Kelly, now 50, a ‘heartbreaker’ and a ‘free spirit’, stating: ‘You couldn’t get your hands around him. But you don’t own anybody. Nobody owns anybody, and you just let them be who they are. Sometimes it’s better not with you.’
Nonetheless, when Pamela wed Tommy, now 60, she had to break the news to Kelly in a ‘horrible’ phone call, having had plans to meet his family at the time.
‘I was dating Kelly Slater at the time and I was supposed to go see him in Florida and meet his family,’ she recollected.
‘My first phone call was him to tell him I was married. He’s like, “What?!” That was horrible.’
In 2011, Kelly reminisced on his past relationship with Pamela, saying that he ‘learned a lot’ from their time together.
‘I don’t have any ill feelings toward her. I wish her well. Hey, we had an amazing time together,’ he said.
Kelly played the recurring character of Jimmy Slade in 27 episodes of Baywatch, making his debut on the globally-watched programme in 1992.
He’s in a long-term relationship with Kalani Miller, the co-founder of swimwear company Mikoh, who recently posted a throwback snap on Instagram of them together on the beach from around 12 to 13 years ago.
Pamela, a love story premieres on Netflix on Tuesday January 31.
