For those looking for someone to share their road frontage with.
Former All-Ireland winning camogie captain Anna Geary has been announced as the host of new Irish dating show Love in the Country, which hopes to help rural romantics find love.
The new RTÉ show is centred around seven single people living in rural Ireland, all of whom are looking to find love but feel their locations stand in the way.
The series will feature people from all ages and backgrounds who live and work in Ireland, each of whom has ties to where they live and need love to come to them.
Host Anna Geary spoke of how difficult it can be to meet someone in rural Ireland, and said she’ll act as a ‘wing-woman of sorts’ for the hopeful romantics:
I’m on a mission to find seven rural romantics that ‘special someone’ they’ve been searching for.
I’m a farmer’s daughter and grew up in rural Ireland. It’s a great wholesome lifestyle, but it’s becoming increasingly difficult to meet someone.
We live in a time where ‘swiping right’ is the norm, however so many don’t like that approach. Love in the Country, like the name suggests, can help people to find love.
I’m excited to get started on Love in the Country. I’ll be a confidante, sounding board and wing-woman of sorts for the love hopefuls, with some laughs along the way too.
Ahead of the show, each singleton has shared a short video giving a profile of who they are, what they’re interested in and where they’re from. The daters will then have a chance to choose a number of people to have a speed date with, inviting their favourite three to spend a weekend with them and try out country living themselves.
The video profiles can be seen HERE.
Love in the Country will air on RTÉ in early 2023.
