LOVE Island host Maya Jama has declared that she is “newly-single” as she opened up about her love life.
The presenter is set to make her first appearance as host on the winter edition of ITV2‘s long-running dating competition.
But Maya, 28, recently opened up on her own dating status as she declared that she is “newly-single”.
The star only recently split from her Australian basketball player ex in September 2022.
But the Love Island presenter has now revealed that she’s officially back on the market.
She confirmed to The Times: “I’m really, really single right now. Newly single. It’s only been a month, but it’s nice.”

When asked whether she prefers being single or in a relationship, she previously told Cosmopolitan: “I’m a long relationship girl, like i’ve been in a lot of long relationships.”
“But now I’m single so they are both alright,”
“I think single in a pandemic is a bit of a different experience because then you are single, single.”
This comes after she previously split from fiancé Ben Simmons following a “difficult time” over their conflicting schedules.
The New York Post claimed the pair, who got engaged eight months ago, realised they were from “two different worlds” – confirming The Sun’s exclusive back in July 2022.
NBA basketball star Ben, 26, was absent from Maya’s wild 28th birthday celebrations in Ibiza, where she flew pals to the White Isle on a private jet.
A source at the time said: “It’s been a difficult time for them.
“While they both care for each other so much, they truly gave it their all and realise that they just come from two different worlds.
“They now understand they don’t have the time they thought to dedicate to this relationship.”
The source then added: “After many long nights and hours of heartfelt talks, they finally realised as much as they love each other, their non-stop careers and endless travel have made it incredibly impossible to make it work.”
She also addressed speculation that she reunited with rapper Stormzy after they were spotted together at the GQ Men of The Year Awards in 2022.
Maya told The Times: ”We were so young when we met, just beginning our careers.
“I was starting at MTV. He’d not even released a single at that point. We were just little babies.”

“I don’t think either of us knew it was going to be such a big thing. We were just: we’re young and in love and we’re going to go for it and work really hard.”
She added: “We’re just together. We never really did red carpets. We didn’t do any of that stuff.”
