They’re mostly in their 20s and they’re about to try and woo three single women nearly twice their age. That’s the premise behind the new Hulu reality dating show, “Back in the Groove.” Among the young men looking for love is a 27-year old from Ann Arbor.
Hosted by Taye Diggs, Back in the Groove” debuts on Hulu on Monday, December 5. The show finds 24 men competing for the love of the three older women at a resort in the Dominican Republic.
Lee Petropoulos was born and raised in Ann Arbor. The entrepreneur is a graduate of Pioneer High School. He says he actually ended up on “Back in the Groove” after auditioning for “The Bachelorette.”
“When I was talking to them during auditions, I told them I preferred an older woman,” Petropoulos told MLive. “I told them that and then this show called me out of nowhere and they said, so, I heard you liked older woman. They told me they were making this show and I went through a rigorous process to get on.”

The three single woman looking for love are Sparkle, 43 from Atlanta, Steph, 41 from Miami and Brooke, 42 from Los Angeles. Petropoulos says he’s always been mature for his age.
“I feel sometimes like an older person with an older spirit. I’m not mister go out and do crazy stuff like what other 20-year olds are doing. Even back even when I was 18 or 19, I wasn’t going out and getting crazy, stupid or drinking.”
Petropoulos says he likes an older woman because he wants someone established with life experience.
“An older woman knows what they want and knows who they are. There’s no guessing game. They’ve tried and they know exactly what they want. I like that they’re secure in themselves and they have a lot of life experience and you can connect with them on a deeper level.”
So, what’s his strategy to try and find love on the show?
“For me personally, I stay as true to myself as possible. I felt very authentic on the show. If somebody is ready for laugher or maybe tears, wants to feel something and wants to watch this journey unfold, then this show is something they should watch.”
